Leaving so long between posts isn’t working out for me! So much changes, and so quickly. Boyfriend and I don’t seem to recognise the people we were only a few months ago. And this keeps happening. We are clearly floating down a rapidly flowing river.
I am aiming to keep this as a short and sweet update, enhanced with the addition of a particularly sexy photo.
Boyfriend left today to begin a 10 day journey of the North Island with his Mum. He hasn’t seen her in over a decade and I think they are super brave to plunge straight into such an intense and focused reunion. They are my heroes.
This year is shaping up to be all about our land. I decided we needed to start with the land we have and work it to its limits. Our little urban plot is rapidly filling up with our attempts to bring back life, love and nature to its battered and neglected bones.
I have convinced Boyfriend to build me the Taj Mahal of bantam coops on a very tiny footprint. We are dreaming up perfect designs to keep our little poppets dry, entertained and healthy. I have a somewhat fanciful idea of hatching them myself. But we’ll start with getting a coop first, then see if Boyfriend can convince me out of playing God with bantam eggs.
And after many years of fearful procrastination, I have finally summoned the courage to sign up for a beekeeping course. It is this weekend… I am now realising the courage to sign up may well not be the same amount of courage required to attend!
But I have a bee suit. So I must now be a beekeeper… right?
